Individual chapters end up not being worth much; however, reading the whole thing including vol 1 at one go gives a great overview of history as we know it. Oct 06, M Snider rated it it was amazing. A fantastic world history text book which covers history topically rather than simply chronologically.
There's an emphasis on connection developments in one part of the world to what's going on elsewhere. Each chapter begins with a vignette to help understand that part of history from a personal point of view.
