Reviewed in the United States on January 1, I watched this on Prime Video waiting for the New Year to chime in last night, and here's my take on it. Good little story. Tight at the beginning. Could have benefited with some editing near the end to tighten that up.
Not sure I can say the acting was good, but the characters all fit their roles quite well. Loved the ray gun, and the resulting skeletons! Props were pretty good regarding the space craft, both outside, but particularly inside. The picture and sound were crisp and clear. Most importantly, I enjoyed this movie. Not quite as good as "Tarantula! These days sci-fi is about deep concepts and eye-popping effects.
Teenagers from Outer Space has neither of those things -- it is just a good but simple story amazingly well told despite the low, low budget and largely entirely?
I won't risk plot giveaways here. Bad guys come. Good prevails because of courage and honor and principles and smarts. The film's 'bad guys' are evil. The "good guys" are us. Average people, but people who truly live the way we were told people here in America lived in the fifties. With a code of conduct that had goodness at its heart. This film was enjoyable. And it left me feeling good despite or is it because of? Okay, that sounds like I am discussing a "serious" drama. Just sci-fi fun of the old school.
And if you love that stuff as I do I think you too will really enjoy this low-budget thriller. An under rated classic! Plays out more of a horror movie witch sets it apart from other sci fi classics with a death count that makes any Friday the 13th movie proud! Very dark for its time but very well written! You cant but help fall in love with the girl powered teenager Betty the wonderfull dawn bender Paves the way for other great strong woman leads in sci fi roles like Sigourney Weaver and Milla Jovovich.

All this How do you rate a movie like this? The acting is so bad it hurts. In fairness, the lines are so stilted that no amount of acting could have saved the dialogue. Bender tried, she really did, but it was hopeless. The special effects are horrendously silly. The plot I think the most astonishing thing was that the actors were able to deliver the utterly awful, melodramatic, stilted, expository, forced dialog without dissolving into laughter.
But they never crack a smile. Maybe they really were aliens In short, you absolutely have to go into this film with the understanding that laughing at it is the only way you'll get through it with your sanity intact.
If your expectations are low enough, it's a relentless gigglefest. Rent, don't buy. B movie fans should see it once; no one needs to see it twice. This part could've been left out it's so bad. The movie ends with the hero alien destroying all the ships before landing. I will watch many times. If you like Plan 9 like I do you will love this.
